made to rely

I’m amazed at how fragile we are. How easily we bend and break. How quick we are to be sad. To be disappointed. Depression, anxiety, etc. We hurt when we’re rejected, sick, or failing. Things are scary and divisive and painful. The negative is consuming.

I see our fragility and all of the above. And then I see how quick we are to pull ourselves together just in time to give ourselves a high-five. So often we use pride to cover our pain. So often we use anything available to cover our pain.

It’s almost as if, we were made to [rely]. But we were made to rely on One who is perfectly strong.

It’s when we try to fully place our faith in each other that we will always be discontent. When we give the power over us to anyone or anything else other than our Creator, we will be hurt.

It’s almost as if, we were made to [rely].
We weren’t made self-sufficient.
We were made to rely on Him, and nothing else.
Nothing else lasts.

“Now I’m putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control.” Hebrews 2:8

I’m not even saying relying on God will magically solve all of our problems here.

I’m saying that when we give people and things God-sized jobs, we can’t be surprised when it all fails.

“Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:4
